On a mission for ship safety and compliance

In 2023, INSB Class continued to strengthen its position within the shipping industry, achieving steady growth despite market challenges and fluctuations.

The year saw INSB Class surveyors conduct a total of 4121 survey assignments, covering various ship types, including cargos ships, bulk carriers, tankers as well as vessels engaged in domestic trade within the Greek waterways. Such surveys ensured compliance with both international and national standards, emphasizing safety and operational efficiency.

In 2023, INSB Class continued to solidify its acceptability in the shipping sector by expanding its fleet and enhancing technical service and support offerings.

 

Through our global network of experienced surveyors, we provided timely inspections and certifications that met the operational needs of ship operators navigating the increasingly complex regulatory environment.

As a result, the society noted a positive uptake in its classified fleet, driven by sustained demand for reliable and efficient classification services. New vessel registrations increased across key ship categories, while sustained preference by cargo ship operators for INSB Class classifications and statutory services.

During the same period, our collaboration with international flag administrations also strengthened, enabling more comprehensive services for shipowners and operators worldwide, reflecting INSB Class enhanced profile as a trusted partner in the shipping industry, providing expert support in compliance, safety, and sustainability

A total of 719 vessels newly entered the INSB Class register during the course of the year in review, with uptake composed of 100 ships flying the flags of international registers and 619 vessels engaged in domestic trade under the Greek flag.

As of the end of the year elapsed, the INSB Class total fleet count stood at 5174 vessels, that included a balanced and well-diversified combined register of various ship trade patterns as seen below.

When compared to the year 2022 consolidated fleet ( 4851 vessels), the overall register grew by + 6,6% in 2023.

Total Survey Activity

On a global scale, and during the year 2023, INSB Class surveyors completed a total number of 4121 classification and statutory survey assignments, with 689 surveys performed to vessels flagged with various foreign flag registries and 3432 inspections and safety checks related to vessels and units flying the Greek Flag, in accordance with the national safety regulations.

When compared to relevant survey activity figures of year 2022, INSB Class overall survey activities grew by +4,5%.

Approvals Activity 2023

Along with the ship survey and certification services performed in 2023, a total number of 1954 reviews and approvals involving both foreign flag & Greek fleet were completed.
